Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. Her early Broadway performances included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with actors and directors on stage and screen for the entirety of her professional career. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford has been engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford is set to appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. She was in two seasons of the popular CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
